"Origami BAH!" #005 - Gli avanzamenti si danno un po' quando %@#€! ci pare - Progress Status is when the %@#€! we want to give it

------------------

Today I worked hard to fix the structure of the text.

The numbering of the chapters and relative paragraphs is more or less defined, unless there will be future epochal choices of revolution of the text. I organized the major part of the material already written, adding here and there what I wanted to write today.

From now on, I will have a sound outline to guide me in writing.

The progress of the writing from now on will be given as the number of pages with respect to a precautionary and rough estimate of about 10 pages per chapter.

"Origami BAH!" #004 - Prima si resta indietro, più tempo si ha per recuperare - The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to recover

Il vecchio Leonard Cohen aveva ragione: "There's a crack in everything."

The "Origami BAH!" project is slow, but it is inexorable. Sometimes it is necessary to pay more attention to logistics instead of taking care of progress. In short, I went shopping: here is the new Wacom Intuos S graphics tablet, which I will use to draw the diagrams. Oops. I wrote "diagrams"!
One of my ways of returning to creativity after long stagnant periods is to start drawing diagrams. I have not yet decided if what is triggered is a vicious or virtuous circle. Drawing diagrams has always been an extremely boring activity for me. Usually when I get bored I fold the paper and create new models. So while drawing model diagrams I can end up with three or four new models on my hands. It will never end.
In this case, the thought alone was enough, stimulated by the presence of the new and glittering graphic tablet which was missing a pen holder in the shape of a heart.
Old Leonard Cohen was right: "There's a crack in everything."
There is a crack in everything that's where you can rest your pen while drawing your inner world.

"Origami BAH!" #002 - Riordinare i pensieri - Tiding up thoughts

Bah!

----

Bah! Since I woke up at 4:00 AM and that there was no way of falling asleep again, I might do something for the project before going to work.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to think a lot, alone or in good company, about folded paper. Unfortunately I have not always taken notes. The first phase of the "Origami BAH!" project (interim name) consists in the reordering of thoughts with the method of mind maps.

At the moment I am busy filling A4 sheets of diagrams, notes and doodles.

I find it a rather congenial way to focus attention on a certain topic but also, by taking a step back, to have the opportunity to contemplate an overall picture.

It's something like when I design an origami model and move the attention back and forth from the detail, to the general structure, it is a matter of navigating at different levels of magnification on a surface made of infinite points.

"Origami BAH!" #001 - Il backup si fa il lunedì - Backup is set up for Monday

-------

After years of thinking about I'm finally in the position to announce that the writing of "Origami BAH!" project has cominced.

I have a bounce of ideas slowly unravelling, an advanced draft structure, the necessary management files with the completion percentages and some lists  of things to do and things to remember.

The today's thought is about project's backup copy: it's set up for every Monday morning!

OUSA Annual Convention 2017 - 07 - The eternal fight against the evil

OUSA Annual Convention 2017 - 07 - The eternal fight against the evil

The evil exists and shall to be faced, even if one is a paperfolder.
When you have a goal to reach, everything that keeps you away from the road to reach it is evil.

Having a job is a curse, you can't live without it and you have to provide a constant and careful presence, at least eight hours a day.Friends are villains, they would like to party in the evening or at the weekend, when there were time to dedicate to paperfolding. The body is an enemy, with its needs to be nourished, warmed up, cared of and trained.Thoughts are cruel: "It is only another useless piece of folded paper", "And yet it is not so good what comes out of it", "Do you really think to be so artistic?", "You will never fold again anything new and astonishing".Feelings strive for ambushing, hidden in the folds, throwing poisoned arrows spread in memories, tears, and sense of emptiness. It is a trial the distance from the embrace of the beloved, you have a choice to make: wether you do the paperfolding or you make love.But.The diversions make the journey interesting and varied.Having a work gives you the dignity of self-sufficiency, allowing you to have that "room all by itself" described by Virginia Woolf: "Intellectual freedom depends upon material things. Poetry depends upon intellectual freedom".
Friends do not only make the life joyful, they are universes full of stories and experiences, which one alone could never even guess.
The body, when in good health, can sit for hours at the folding table, can offer firm and sensitive fingers, and can give good eyes that can see, though with the support of lenses.Thoughts that are faced and tamed or to which one decides to abandon himself or herself, shall be followed and explored to the full as abysses that look inside us as we do in them.Understanding the feelings and their storms, starting with ours own, leads to empathy with other human beings: an origami that brings in it a trace of the feeling that generated it can touch the hearts of people. The warmth of an embrace does not disappear because of the distance, the trace remains above and below the skin, on the surface and between the folds of the paper.
In an artistic journey you can not think of being only an arrow pointing to the target, there is so much time to lose and so much soul to gain.

"Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!"
("Jerusalem" William Blake)

("Jerusalem" William Blake)
